Snowdays

The weather is finally jumping on our side towards spring and you can’t stand the word “snow” anymore. However, don’t turn your back on the word Snowdays just yet until you try the actual Shaved Cream frozen dessert at the small shop called Snowdays in the East Village. Forget 16 Handles and snow cones because this dairy treat has toppings and flavors you can’t order anywhere else. First, as it’s stated on their website “the shaved cream is an evolution of Taiwanese and Korean shaved ice that pairs the fluffy texture of snow with the taste of creaminess of ice cream.” Try it and you’ll agree 100%.

To begin with there, are 6 base flavors to choose from: Yeti Tracks, NY Cheesecake, Roasted Black Sesame, Sweet Milk, Green Tea Matcha and Coconut. I loved the Cheesecake and the Sweet Milk. The flavor difference isn’t that distinct but you do taste a cheesecake hint. The good part is if you are sharing with someone who isn’t that into cheesecake, it won’t make that big of a difference. Aka they’ll be able to handle it. That being said, you definitely need to share. 3-4 people can share one. These bolders of a dessert are gigantic and somehow the snow never goes down. If you go solo, you’ll end up staying there for an hour just trying to finish it. The next step is choosing toppings and drizzles such as: M&M’s, Oreos, Cap’n Crunch, Fruity Pebbles, Peanuts, Red Bean, Mochi, Granola, Condensed Milk, Strawberry Puree, Peanut Butter Sauce.

My vote is go for the Sweet Milk + Salted Caramel + Nilla Wafers + Strawberry

The Salted Caramel sauce is a gift to mankind. It just doesn’t get any better with this fluff, and they are very generous with it, too. A regular is $6, large, $7 and Yeti is $9. You’ll see groups of friends sharing with all different colored toppings and contagious laughter. What’s really in this snow, right?
