Smile To Go is the best thing that has ever happened to the lunch scene or really food department in SoHo. Brought to you by the guys at The Smile, a restaurant a few blocks north, this to-go lunch spot definitely adds a “pick-me-up” to daily options. There are about a dozen sides to choose from, a daily quiche or tart, homemade sandwiches, soups and oversized scones and cookies. Their infamous homemade Rotisseri Chicken is $10 for a half, a box of 3 sides goes for $12 and half a sandwich is only $5. Portions are large and good for sharing, and goodies are packed up in brown paper boxes similar to the beloved Whole Foods. Most people run in and out due to the small space and limited seating, and the service is quick. The fig jam on the cheese sandwich should be illegal it’s so fly, and I would like to carry a jar with me at all times in case I ever need to add it to a sandwich. All of the vegetables are fresh, seasoned well and have been handled with care. The crumbly scones and cookies that stare at you while you order may look hard, but don’t be fooled just add one to your order- they are worth it. The Cranberry Scone tastes like a sweet biscuit with jam that you crave Saturday mornings, and the Peanut Butter & Jelly cookie (below) is a bit sticky and tastes just like you think it would. If you work in the area and haven’t jumped on this clutch spot offering legit grub, get after it.
