OatMeals

You can easily miss the new oatmeal bar in the West Village if you aren’t paying attention. Located just west of Washington Square Park, this little nook serves countless options for an oatmeal breakfast (or late evening snack in this case) with toppings galore. The founder developed this concept after eating oats for dinner with different variations in order to lose weight and stay healthy. The offerings are endless ranging from sweet to savory, made with milk or water, fresh fruit, dried fruit, nuts, and cute sizes named: Baby Bear, Mama Bear and Papa Bear.

You can choose from an already curated menu including: Salted Caramel– Cinnamon, Brown Sugar, Cinnamon Roasted Apple, Caramel Drizzle, Fleur de Sel, Whipped Cream; S’mores– Dark Chocolate Chips, Mini Marshmallows, Graham Crackers, Chocolate Syrup Drizzle; RisOATto– Shaved Parmesan, Truffle Oil, Sea Salt, Cracked Black Pepper; Bacon Pumpkin– Pumpkin Puree Swirl, Bacon, Maple Syrup, Sea Salt.

With a plethora of toppings, it might give you anxiety for the first few minutes after you step up into the little shop. The best thing to do first is decide if you want to swing sweet or swing savory. It’s hard to not give in to the peanut butter dollops, graham cracker crumble, pumpkin puree and candied orange. Others might be intrigued with the sharp cheddar cheese, pesto, and balsamic glaze flavors. I chose the water based cereal and it was very thick, whole and hearty and adding Greek Yogurt is a nice finish on top. Coming from someone who eats oatmeal for breakfast everyday, I say skip your instant packets and your long waits at Starbucks and cozy up at Oatmeals where you can make a new breakfast combo each day.

You can even skip the cereal meal altogether and go for a bag of granola, oatmeal pastries and cookies or a turkey sandwich on oatmeal bread which are baked in-house. Everything is made with oats which are sourced from local farmers, duh.
