Salted Caramel, Maple Bacon Crunch, Apple Pie, Chocolate Chip, Cookies n Cream, Peanut Butter Crunch, Creme Brûlée- no these are not ice cream names but an amazing lineup of cookie flavors created by Gotham Cookies. In a city where bakeries do not open as often as restaurants, it is a major relief that there are now so many at-home bakers popping up and sharing their sweet, creative love with the rest of us! Just when I thought I couldn’t find another homemade tasting cookie, I was introduced to Gotham Cookies. They have the cutest packaging I’ve yet to see with some hot pink coloring on the logo. Each cookie comes in a sealed plastic similar to Momofuku Milk Bar cookies which sure makes this a relief when you order a dozen cookies knowing they will stay fresh for a few extra days. A dozen cookies are $30 which is a steal if you check out the cookie prices or other delivered cupcakes, jars, cake balls around here these days. This price makes it ideal for office birthdays, engagement parties and heck, even takeaways at the end of weddings!
What makes Gotham Cookies stand out is not only their vast array of creative flavors but it’s the extreme thinness of the cookie that still leaves just enough room for the chocolate chunks to be gooey and melted. It’s almost thin as paper (allowing you to scarf down several at a time) yet still soft and bendable. My absolute favorite is the Candy Bar. You’ve got all the best flavors attacking you at once. It’s caramel dough loaded with toffee, M&M’s, Reese’s Pieces, Chocolate Chips and topped off with Salted Caramel Sauce. Don’t worry it’s not overly intense and you’ll eat three in no time just to get more bites of each piece of candy as no single bite is the exact carbon copy as the one before. It breaks apart in your hand as smooth and effortless as can be and draws a smile to your face before you have time to say “mmm.”
While the Chocolate Chip is good, there is no need to waste your order on these when there are so many other flavors that are not available anywhere else. The Salted Caramel which is their signature also outshines it. I also love the Mint Chip because it’s hard to find a chocolate cookie in the city that isn’t too dry or too rich. This one is just right with added Chocolate Chips making it more moist. The green mint M&M’s are what really seal the deal here as they are baked just enough to melt in your mouth and add a tiny crunch to the cookie. If you are a peanut butter fan, go for the Peanut Butter Nutella cookie.
Good news for out of towners: they ship nationwide. Good news for locals: hand delivery is available and the cost will populate at order checkout.
