Flower Child at The Domain

It seems like a good time to name a restaurant Flower Child. People are obsessed with Coachella styles, grain bowls, kale,  yoga, being empowered, and rocking out their soul.  When you step into this LA based restaurant, you see baskets of whole fruits and vegetables, an area to literally drop your yoga mat off called “Yoga Mat Parking.” Ridiculous and hilarious. The lamps look like they are made out of green Le Creuset dutch ovens and the whole place screams “I’m healthy, and I look good while doing it, too!” I love the floral yet edgy bathroom wallpaper.

Anyway, you order at the counter which makes this one of the nicest feeling fast-casual spots I’ve ever been to and one that you actually want to stay a while. It’s not that you want to rush in and rush out once you have your food. You really don’t see many healthy spots like this that actually feel like a serious restaurant. Beware though, this is one of those places where you want to try everything so either, go with someone that is a share-er or be prepared to have orders remorse immediately after you make your decision. IMG_5564

The most mind blowing item here is the Indian Spiced Cauliflower with turmeric (yay superfood!) date and almond. That date and almond mixture needs to win an award. It’s sweet, crunchy and placed perfectly atop a charred cauliflower. I could eat this for an appetizer, then entree, and finish off another scoop for dessert. Not a joke. We chose the Mix ‘N Match which is 3 vegetables for $9. Not too shabby. The Red Chili Glazed Sweet Potatoes with bok choy and and sesame seeds won my approval as did the Spicy Japanese Eggplant with Thai Basil and Cashew. Almost everything here is gluten free and they do include symbols on the menu differentiating between vegan and vegetarian.

While the vegetable bowl blew me away, the salad titled the “Vegan Ingredient” was fine for a salad, it just didn’t have the creativity of that addicting cauliflower! Made with all the best ingredients: brussels sprouts, avocado, corn, tomato, sun-dried olive, sunflower seed, and a lemon tahini vinaigrette, I’m also not complaining. You can add All-Natural Chicken, Sustainable Salmon, Grass-Fed Steak, or Organic Non-GMO Tofu. They have a pretty cool Avocado Hummus, whole grain wraps, gluten-free cookies and brownies, and unlimited ice tea flavors. They also have a kids menu.

Flower Child, I’ll be back to devour that cauliflower and to try that Mother Earth bowl filled with ancient grains, sweet potato, mushroom, avocado, cucumber, BROCCOLI PESTO, leafy greens, red pepper miso-vinaigrette, and hemp seed.
