Cake Cups. Yes, there is a new woman in town, and she is a combination of a slice of cake and a cupcake all mixed into one cup. This is the greatest idea yet and thank goodness we aren’t dealing with a new cupcake shop in the West Village. At Bee’s Knees Baking Company they have created an easy to eat (with a wooden spoon), portable cupcake that looks more like cake. This way you get a bit of icing and cake in each bite. There are tons of flavors to choose from including: Red Velvet, Honey Bourbon, Chocolate Caramel, Chocolate Peanut Butter and Vanilla Cake with White Chocolate Mousse Raspberry Jam. Seasonal and daily flavors also pop up regularly. As a chocolate lover and obsessor, surprisingly my two favorites were the PB&J and Carrot Cake, which is a seasonal flavor. The peanut butter mousse mixed with the strawberry cayenne jam is so creamy and delicious. If you like peanut butter in your desserts, you must get this. It’s very nostalgic of the pb&j sandwich you had in your lunch sack for years but with a sweeter twist. It’s definitely the most moist cupcake cup out of all of them. The Carrot Cake was also very soft and the icing was awesome. The Chocolate Peanut Butter which I thought was going to be my favorite was my least favorite because the cake was a tad drier. These cups are perfect portions when you want to nibble on a treat, and you can save it for later since it has a lid. They are great hostess gifts, and they also cater for weddings if you are looking to serve something unique. The large space and communal table allows for people to come stay a while, have some coffee, work or even study. After your dinner in the West Village, make sure you swing by Bee’s Knees Baking Company to top off your night with dessert.
